JOHN 17, 1-26
Jesus’ prayer the night he was arrested
After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
"Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. 2 For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. 4 I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. 5 And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.
6 "I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one.12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.
13 "I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world,I have sent them into the world. 19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.
20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one,Father, just as you are in me and I am in you.May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one- 23 I in them and you in me-so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
24 "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory,the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world.
25 "Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them."
Father, the hour has come
Our Lord Jesus-Christ, in perfect communion with his Father and the Holy Angels, knew perfectly his destiny, and the time he will have to sacrifice himself, and he had accepted those facts, with
Faith and Trust in his Father, as every step was already prepared in heaven, ways before he incarnated in the virgin’s womb. The holy angels who were by his side, and those who had to help with the resurrection, were all ready for “the day, the hour, the time” of their own involvement.
Some of them were incarnated (Virgin Mary and the women by her side, the apostles despite their weakness, Holy Joseph of Arimathy who provided for the grave, the holy priests in the Sanhedrin who didn’t find any guilt in Jesus, holy Veronica who wiped his Holy Face with her scarf, to help our Dear Lord see his way without blood covering his face and drying on his eyes, holy Simon of
Cyrene, who helped our Lord carry his cross, ...) Everyone was getting ready, consciously or unconsciously, because this was a spiritual matter.
Other holy angels were pure spirits ( those who comforted Him, those who asked to the women the day of the resurrection “who are you looking for ?”...)
Everyone was feeling weird, knowing that something extraordinary was about to happen. The
atmosphere was heavy, and the holy angels were actually terribly sad, seeing their Dear King going through his sacrifice for human beings. Why does He love them so much ? They are disobedient, they run towards evil, they destroy God’s creation. If God had authorised the holy
angels to destroy the earth, done it is , a very long time ago. BUT THE HOLY ANGELS OBEY TO GOD, and at that very time, only Jesus-Christ’s will is important to them. Because no creature was
found worthy to make that sacrifice, and most of the angels refused it. That is why God had to
be himself the sacrifice : Jesus’ blood must wipe all the innocent blood poured buy the evil forces
on earth, wipe all human sacrifices and abominations which are made consistently before God.
God loves his creature, Adam and his seed, and will never let them into his enemy’s hands.
He knows that they are laid astray. The continual burnt offering time had come. Judas, Caiaphas,
and the soldiers are getting ready secretly to arrest Jesus.
Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you.
All his life, while he was teaching and doing miracles, though crowds were following him, many of
them were covering him with sarcasm, slander, but Jesus was holding with strength to his faith,
and was praying constantly. We should never forget that though he was the Son of God, Jesus was a man, a human being (incarnated by the spirit of God himself).
Jesus is the Son of God, so God’s love for him is above any other love.
Hebrews 1, 8-14 : 1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. 4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
"You are my Son;
today I have become your Father"[a]?
Or again,
"I will be his Father and he will be my Son"?
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
"Let all God's angels worship him."
7 In speaking of the angels he says,
"He makes his angels spirits,
and his servants flames of fire."
8 But about the Son he says,
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy."
10 He also says,
"In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
and your years will never end."
13 To which of the angels did God ever say,
"Sit at my right hand
until I make your enemies
a footstool for your feet"?
14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
Psalm 45, 1-8 : 1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme
as I recite my verses for the king;
my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.
2 You are the most excellent of men
and your lips have been anointed with grace,
since God has blessed you forever.
3 Gird your sword on your side, you mighty one;
clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.
4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously
in the cause of truth, humility and justice;
let your right hand achieve awesome deeds.
5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies;
let the nations fall beneath your feet.
6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.
8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
from palaces adorned with ivory
the music of the strings makes you glad.
Jesus’ sacrifice must reconcile God with men, so God needs to make wonders though Jesus-Christ, to honour his Son, so that anyone who believes in him can have Eternal life. God also needs to strengthen Jesus during his suffering, so that his enemy and his enemy’s actions can be destroyed : Jesus’ blood and the holy water both pouring from his pierced heart must wipe on the earth all abominations (past ones, present ones and future ones) for the glory of the Father. Jesus’ soul must deliver the souls which are made prisoners in Hell by the evil, for the Glory of the Father. Jesus’ spirit, which is the spirit of God, who departed from Jesus and went back between the hands of God, ( this his why Jesus asked on the cross : “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”)must reincarnate Jesus’ body at the resurrection, TO GLORIFY JESUS, so that he can give his last teaching to his disciples and strengthen their faith, for the glory of the Father. JESUS MUST COME FROM DEATH TO LIFE, as he had predicted.
John 2, 13-25 : 13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father's house into a market!" 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me.”
18 The Jews then responded to him, "What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?"
19 Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."
20 They replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?" 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival, many people saw the signs he was performing and believed in his name. 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind, for he knew what was in each person. This is why Jesus asks his Father to glorify him through his resurrection, as he must overcome death, for the glory of the father and the glory of the Son.
Luke 3, 21-22 : 21 When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying,heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."
Part of the Spirit of love in Jesus ( The Holy Spirit ) , was sent to his disciples on Pentecost day.
The tongues of fire unchained the disciples tongues, so that they can prophecy and spread the word of God on the whole world, in every language.
The Holy Spirit is the spirit of love which unite the Father and the Son.
John 16, 6-7 :
Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. 7 But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
